Pebbles in the water

So, we bought a house. Moved in at the start of May. Aaaaand - it's August, almost September, and the last four months have been one big ugly blur. Jeez, the amount of work it takes to fix up a house!!!

Anyways, we ripped out the entire garden (it was full of roses and rockeries, just brilliant for a family with an active kid...) and laid it to lawn with a little border, very twee! And fixed the roof, and redecorated kid's room so it wasn't godawful icky pus-yellow-with-green-highlights, and ripped out the hideous CARPET in the kitchen (??? who puts shag pile in the kitchen? 0_o ) and also the lovely pink-with-black-mould-effect carpet in the bathroom. And redecorated the bathroom so it was less PINK (shudders).

Now the kitchen's an interesting mix of lime green, brilliant yellow, and patchy cream, because we stripped the nasty wallpaper intending to paint the bare walls only to find said bare walls in dire need of sanding/re-plastering, which we don't have time to do right now. Just why DID the previous owner painted kitchen in those -um- 'interesting' colours?

Still, the house is starting to look good, and we finally have some time 'off' to do family-type things (so I can wear out lil'un and put her to bed early and read SPN porn till the early hours, got my priorities straight, uh-huh). 

Except we have to head out tonight for my mum's birthday celebration tomorrow followed by mine on Tuesday, so I will likely be in a drunken stupor for the next four days.
