Pebbles in the water

It's half term, and I was planning on lots of nice things, taking my daughter out for lovely trips and the buying of shiny!pretties and maybe the seeing of the seals again because they are Of The Cute.  AND it was my dad's birthday last week and we had planned a lovely meal at his favourite restaurant.

All plans are buggered.  Cancelled or postponed.  Because my uncle got taken ill two weeks ago and is in hospital.  Long story, I won't go into details, but he is very poorly and the doctors don't know why.  So last week I drove my mum to London for the day to visit him, took us almost 4 hours to get there, we got home exhausted.   Mum and dad drove back there on Saturday and are sleeping in his tiny apartment, one in the single bed and one on the tiny couch.  I planned on using their car for our half-term excursions; now we're left without a car and the furthest I can take my daughter is the local town.  Woo hoo.  I've had to cancel appointments I had specifically set up for this week; I am stuck at home with no car; I am desperately worried about my uncle, and I can only have short snatches of conversation with my mum as my uncle has no landline phone and she doesn't want to tie up her mobile for too long in case the hospital rings.  

I need to find something fun to do.
